About the role#
This is a part-time, paid internship focused on the revitalization of the Lingít language. You will support the Goldbelt Heritage Foundation by assisting with language documentation, curriculum development, and community programming. This role provides hands-on experience in Indigenous language work and nonprofit operations while offering mentorship from language professionals. This position is grant-funded and limited to a maximum of 500 hours over a 12-month period.
What you'll do#
- Assist with Lingít language classes, workshops, and immersion activities.
- Support language documentation by organizing recordings and helping with transcriptions.
- Prepare and format language learning materials.
- Support intergenerational learning and community cultural gatherings.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and file organization.
- Collect data for program tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with Elders, educators, language experts, and learners.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university.
- Any experience with the Lingít language.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to commit to a set schedule.
- Low-intermediate or higher proficiency in Lingít is preferred.
- Coursework in linguistics, education, Indigenous studies, or languages is helpful.
- Experience with transcription or documentation is a plus.

- Pay: $16.00 to $22.00 per hour.
- Status: Part-time, rolling term.
