About the role#
GMi offers a paid, full-time internship for students interested in commercial construction. You will gain exposure to field operations, estimating, and project management. This program provides hands-on experience and prepares you for a long-term career in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside experienced professionals to gain field experience.
- Assist with jobsite activities including layout, framing, and drywall.
- Support field leadership with material coordination, safety inspections, quality control, and documentation.
- Help Project Managers with budgeting, scheduling, submittals, and project paperwork.
- Participate in production planning, progress walks, and reporting.
- Learn to use construction documents, estimating processes, and budgeting tools.
- Build professional relationships with office staff, field teams, clients, and vendors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong work ethic and a willingness to work in both office and field settings.
- Self-motivation and strong organizational skills.
- A positive attitude and a desire to learn.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate professionally.
- Interest in a long-term career in commercial construction.
- Prior construction experience is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship located in Houston, Texas.
- Opportunities are available on a rolling basis for both summer and semester-long terms.
- Performance during the internship may lead to future full-time employment.
