About the role#
Southwest Cheese offers 12-week summer internships across EHS, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Quality departments. This program connects classroom learning with hands-on work in a manufacturing environment. Interns gain exposure to plant operations, work alongside cross-functional teams, and receive mentorship from company leaders. You will own a specific project that addresses a real business challenge and present your recommendations to leadership at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Manage a project from concept and planning through implementation and completion.
- Collect and analyze data to recommend improvements for safety, quality, cost, or efficiency.
- Assist with project scope, budgets, schedules, documentation, and equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety teams to solve technical problems.
- Participate in development workshops, networking events, and program activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for business, engineering, food science, operations, or supply chain.
- An anticipated graduation date of December 2027, May 2028, or June 2028.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Mathematical skills for calculating ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphs.
