About the role#
Giampaolo Group Inc. is hiring a Controls Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. This paid, full-time position is based on-site in Franklin, Kentucky. You will work alongside engineers to analyze plant processes, troubleshoot hardware, and design improvements for our mining operations. Expect to spend most of your time in an office, with some work in a manufacturing environment that includes exposure to noise, moisture, and varying temperatures.
What you'll do#
- Assist with PLC and HMI programming maintenance.
- Investigate existing equipment to prepare for modifications.
- Implement minor projects independently with supervision.
- Document and communicate project progress and improvements.
- Shadow specialists and collaborate with engineers daily.
- Participate in business projects and professional development workshops.
- Travel up to 20 percent of the time if required.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times.
What you'll need#
- Completion of 90 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2024 semester.
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, specifically in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and solve problems effectively.
- Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, programming, or scripting is preferred.
