About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at Gem, you will take on an impactful role that mirrors the responsibilities of a full-time Associate Engineer. You will work within our technology teams to design, solve, and test complex coding problems for our trading tools and risk applications. This role offers exposure to the design and implementation of distributed real-time systems, allowing you to build your technical skills in a practical environment.
What you'll do#
- Deliver a technical project that has a direct impact on our business.
- Participate in a 1-week Trading Basics class, mock trading, a quant class, and trading desk shadows.
- Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with your manager to track your progress.
- Receive mentorship from a member of the technology team.
- Participate in planned social activities and attend talks from business leaders to build your professional network.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field.
- Graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026.
- Experience with Java, C++, or Python.
- A solid foundation in data structures, object-oriented programming, and algorithms.
- A demonstrated record of success in academics, awards, volunteering, or community service.
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- A highly motivated, humble, and collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Willingness to relocate to New York, NY for the summer.
