About the role#
GEI Consultants is looking for a Civil Engineer Intern to join our office in Allendale, Michigan. This is a full-time, paid position with a rolling term. You will work on-site as part of our geotechnical team, supporting various projects through field exploration, lab testing, and design assistance.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate with clients to schedule and perform subsurface exploration activities.
- Direct and oversee drilling subcontractors during site exploration.
- Perform visual engineering classifications and lab testing on recovered samples.
- Develop geotechnical engineering reports to support project design.
- Assist the design team with geotechnical aspects of MSE, SOE, industrial, and hydropower projects.
- Perform construction oversight on design projects.
- Prepare design drawings in AutoCAD with guidance from senior staff.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
- 0 to 3 years of professional experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, including field work.
