About the role#
Join the bridge team for a summer internship in Pittsburgh. You will work on client projects and receive mentorship from experienced engineers. This is a full-time, paid position running from mid-May through mid-August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform 3D modeling, design, and drafting for transportation structures like bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and sign structures.
- Assist with quantity calculations and contribute to cost estimates.
- Aid in the development of construction contract documents and review shop and working drawings.
- Coordinate work activities with other disciplines.
- Review inspection reports and perform bridge load ratings under supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
- Demonstrated interest in bridge design through coursework or previous internships.
- Basic understanding of bridge design principles.
- Familiarity with CADD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a design team.
- Prior experience with 3D modeling software like Revit, Civil 3D, and STADD is preferred.
