About the role#
Join the bridge team at Gannett Fleming as a Bridge Engineering Intern. You will support real client projects, working alongside experienced engineers who provide guidance and mentorship. This role offers the chance to contribute to transportation infrastructure projects, including highways and bridges. The internship runs from mid-May through mid-August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform structural analysis and finite element 3D modeling.
- Design and draft transportation structures like bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and sign structures.
- Assist with quantity calculations and cost estimates.
- Help develop construction contract documents and review shop and working drawings.
- Coordinate work activities with other disciplines.
- Review inspection reports and perform bridge load ratings under supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering program with a focus on structures.
- Demonstrated interest in bridge and structural design through coursework or previous internships.
- Basic understanding of bridge design principles.
- Familiarity with CADD software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work both independently and within a design team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Location: Fort Worth, Texas.
- Modality: On-site and hybrid options available.
- Employment: Full-time hourly position.
- Compensation: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
