About the role#
GAI Consultants is looking for an electrical engineering student to join our Power Delivery team. You will assist engineers and project managers with substation designs and gain experience in the power industry. This is a full-time, temporary position based in our Overland Park office.
What you'll do#
- Support the team with daily project tasks to ensure successful delivery.
- Prepare specification packages and physical or wiring drawings.
- Use AutoCAD to design and analyze substation drawings.
- Perform electrical clearance checks and calculations.
- Help coordinate and develop client proposals and estimates.
- Apply engineering principles to power delivery projects.
- Travel to local project sites as needed, approximately 5 percent of the time.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for engineering, preferably electrical engineering.
- Current standing as a Junior or Senior student.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and regulations.
- Capability to perform engineering calculations and present information to staff.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit is preferred.

- Duration: 3 months, full-time (40 hours per week).
