About the role#
GAI Consultants is hiring an Environmental Compliance Intern to join our Civil and Environmental Engineering team in Cranberry. You will work under a licensed Professional Engineer to assist clients with environmental compliance needs across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and the surrounding region. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and review client Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and state-specific PPC Plans.
- Assist with state and federal air quality permits, including Minor Modifications and Title V.
- Review stormwater and erosion and sediment control plans for construction projects.
- Conduct supervised field monitoring for erosion and sediment compliance and Phase I ESAs.
- Prepare reports and permit applications.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and review project specifications.
- Collect project data using GPS devices.
- Adhere to health, safety, and quality management standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Engineering or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical reports, professional journals, and government regulations.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and a willingness to learn industry-specific software.
- Mathematical skills relevant to engineering disciplines.
- Ability to present information and respond to staff inquiries.
