About the role#
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an engineering student to join our Civil and Environmental Business Sector. This is a temporary, full-time position working 40 hours a week for a 3-month duration. This role supports a team of engineers and project managers with design and permitting tasks. You will work under the guidance of professional engineering staff to develop your technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist with day-to-day project tasks to ensure successful delivery.
- Use computer programs to create detailed designs.
- Conduct technical and feasibility studies.
- Ensure work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Address basic design challenges and refer complex issues to senior staff.
- Travel locally or regionally as needed for project work, typically 1 to 2 days per week.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in engineering, preferably Civil Engineering.
- Junior or Senior level standing if enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Foundational knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil engineering design tasks.
- Strong skills in team collaboration, problem-solving, and written or oral communication.
- Ability to interpret technical reports, journals, and governmental regulations.
- Mathematical skills consistent with engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with basic computer systems and a willingness to learn Power Delivery software.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is preferred but not required.
