About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join our R&D Digital Transformation group for a 3-month term. This role connects experimental formulation chemistry with data science, machine learning, and lab automation. You will work alongside formulation scientists and R&D leaders to refine historical data, build predictive models, and improve our laboratory information systems.
What you'll do#
- Extract, clean, and standardize historical formulation data from legacy spreadsheets, LIMS, and experimental records.
- Perform statistical analyses to identify relationships between ingredients and material properties.
- Build and maintain interactive dashboards to share insights with R&D stakeholders.
- Train and evaluate machine learning models to predict physical, mechanical, and rheological material properties.
- Apply optimization techniques and grid searches to identify potential formulation recipes.
- Design test protocols that balance data exploration with practical laboratory validation.
- Configure LIMS templates and ELN procedures to improve benchtop data capture.
- Standardize workflows that connect raw material formulations, processing steps, and characterization results.
- Organize and tag technical literature, reports, and SOPs to support knowledge management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Python, statistical DOE tools, and Google Workspace.
- Exposure to generative AI platforms.
- Foundational knowledge of general chemistry, material science, polymer chemistry, and analytical characterization.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex data science concepts to others.

- This is a full-time, on-site, paid position with a base hourly rate of $20.00.
