Nurse Technician RN Student - Surgical 2 Unit

About the role#

The Nurse Technician provides basic patient care and nonprofessional services to support the comfort and needs of patients within the Surgical 2 Unit. Working under the close supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will rely on established guidelines to assist with daily patient care activities and contribute to the efficiency of nursing services.

What you'll do#

• Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Measure, collect, and document patient data, such as vital signs, weight, and oxygen saturation, and report any changes in condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility needs.
• Retrieve medications from the pharmacy or pneumatic tube system for delivery to nursing staff.
• Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and the collection of specimens for lab transport.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and nursing station areas.
• Adhere to institutional policies and nursing standards to ensure quality care.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Registered Nurse program at the Junior or Senior level.
• Completion of basic patient skills within your nursing program and your first Med/Surg clinical rotation.
• Status as a student in good standing.
• Active BLS Certification.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, communication, customer service, and computer skills.
