About the role#
The Media Technology Support department is hiring Student IT Operations Technicians. You will provide multimedia support for classrooms and learning spaces across the university. This role involves working with a team to ensure equipment and systems function correctly for faculty, staff, and students.
What you'll do#
- Distribute, set up, and retrieve multimedia equipment for classes and events.
- Monitor and troubleshoot multimedia systems in classrooms and campus locations.
- Train faculty, staff, and students on how to use multimedia systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and report repair issues immediately.
- Assist with equipment reservations and checkout.
- Monitor video conferences for audio, video, and content quality.
- Monitor scheduled lecture captures.
- Keep departmental storerooms clean and organized.
- Relocate and set up office equipment and supplies.
- Work with field technicians to resolve technical issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an FIU student.
- Minimum of six credits for undergraduates or three credits for graduate students during Fall and Spring semesters.
- Experience with multimedia equipment, computers, and peripheral devices.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers, and media players.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds without mechanical assistance.
- Customer service skills and the ability to interact with the public.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

- Location: Modesto A. Maidique Campus, Miami, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Hours vary based on class schedule and departmental needs.
