About the role#
The Multidisciplinary Engineering & Computing Education department is looking for a Student Assistant to provide administrative support and help with daily office operations. This is a temporary, part-time position located at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. The role requires a high sense of responsibility and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
What you'll do#
- Provide clerical support and assist with general office tasks.
- Manage front desk duties, including answering phones and routing customer inquiries.
- Prepare routine documents, correspondence, and form letters.
- Schedule meetings and appointments for the team.
- Assist with travel arrangements and basic event operations.
- Sort and distribute mail.
- Maintain office supply inventory.
- Update and manage basic databases.
- Resolve routine problems by following established guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an FIU student.
- Minimum of six credits for undergraduates or three credits for graduate students during Fall and Spring semesters.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
- Knowledge of PC operations, PantherSoft, and Salesforce.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Completion of FIU Service Excellence training (or completion within the first 30 days of employment).
- Must not have graduated.
Location & details#
- Location: Modesto A. Maidique Campus, Miami, Florida.
- Work schedule: Up to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $15.00 to $20.00 per hour.
- Status: This appointment may be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check.
