Nursing Student Technician - FlexStaff

About the role#

The Nursing Student Technician provides direct patient care for a designated group of patients. This role involves performing clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, and activities of daily living, while sharing accountability for quality patient outcomes.

What you'll do#

• Assist with unit admission and discharge processes.
• Obtain and document patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, weight, and height.
• Perform delegated patient care procedures, including simple wound dressings and grade I and II decubitus care.
• Communicate pertinent patient observations and significant condition changes to the Registered Nurse and health care team.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Assist with patient mobility, including lifting, moving, and transferring patients using proper body mechanics and equipment.
• Respond to patient requests and call lights.
• Function as a team member during emergency situations under supervisory guidance.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in a BSN program with completion of a fundamental of nursing course including a clinical practicum.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification.
