About the role#
Flexcon is looking for an Applications Engineering Co-op to join the Research and Development team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on polymer aerogel technology to help solve customer needs. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and direct collaboration on customer projects to develop new product solutions.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop new processes and test methods.
- Execute thermal experiments and validate results.
- Generate and analyze data to inform project outcomes.
- Fabricate sample prototypes based on specific customer requirements.
- Develop lab-scale techniques for performing thermal tests.
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and prereview conference papers.
- Collaborate with the Application and Research team on project goals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s program for Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Completed coursework in thermal engineering or thermal management.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer theory and fundamentals.
- Experience with laboratory work and a basic understanding of safety protocols.
- Ability to plan and run thermal tests across different environmental conditions.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for thermal validations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with CAD or thermal modeling software is a plus.
- Experience with project management or design of experiments software is preferred.
- Ability to follow all lab safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment.
