About the role#
This internship supports the data governance program at FirstBank. You will work on special projects that require a mix of business, analytical, and technical skills. The primary focus of this role is data analysis and documenting business processes. We are looking for rising juniors or seniors to join our team.
What you'll do#
- Document current business and data flow processes.
- Interview stakeholders to identify data issues, gaps, and opportunities.
- Find ways to improve data quality.
- Build metrics for data management and quality standards.
- Analyze data quality issues and recommend fixes.
- Track and report data quality statistics.
- Update business metadata and reference data.
- Translate business rules into data quality rules and controls.
- Support platforms that enable data sharing.
- Provide training and assistance as needed.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with data governance or regulatory compliance is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of data analysis principles.
- Technical experience with SQL, SAS, Python, or R.
- Ability to explain technical information to business partners.
- Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills.

- Locations: Nashville, Tennessee or Birmingham, Alabama.
- Modality: On-site.
- Type: Paid, part-time internship.
- Schedule: Rolling start dates based on your school calendar, with the possibility to extend into the 2027 school year.
