About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. You will work under the direction of a Product Development Scientist or Manager to contribute to the design and testing of adult incontinence and feminine hygiene products. This role provides hands-on experience through projects that impact product performance and business value.
What you'll do#
- Create, develop, and test proprietary product designs to meet consumer needs.
- Support existing product systems to ensure competitive performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product designs and improvements.
- Work with suppliers to develop new materials and technologies.
- Ensure all new raw materials receive proper safety testing and clearance.
- Document novel ideas to assist with corporate proprietary technology.
- Conduct product testing on internal and benchmark items.
- Develop new test methods to better understand product performance in use.
- Redesign products to maintain cost improvements.
- Execute all projects in a safe, diligent, and professional manner.
What you'll need#
- A technical Bachelor’s degree in progress or completed, such as Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology.
- Zero to two years of experience in research and design.
- Familiarity with the scientific method for testing hypotheses.
- Working knowledge of basic statistics and Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
- Good time management skills and a desire to take initiative.
- Knowledge of retail absorbent products is preferred.
- Ability to travel occasionally to domestic and international manufacturing plants for trials.
