About the role#
FieldAI is seeking a Robotics Research Intern to join the Autonomy team for the Fall 2026 term. This role is designed for PhD students interested in advancing embodied intelligence through large-scale learning and real-world robotic deployment. You will work alongside researchers and engineers to connect cutting-edge AI research with practical robotics systems, focusing on scalable methods that generalize across tasks and embodiments.
What you'll do#
- Explore novel approaches to robot learning and autonomy.
- Design experiments and develop learning pipelines.
- Validate research ideas on real robotic platforms.
- Develop a multi-modal data collection platform for robot navigation data.
- Collect high-quality datasets for reproducible and comparable research.
- Summarize and publish research findings in academic conferences or journals.
What you'll need#
- Current PhD student in Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Research experience in robot learning, reinforcement learning, or imitation learning.
- Strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals and experimental methodology.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a research environment.
- Strong interest in embodied intelligence and real-world robotics systems.
- Preferred: Experience with real robot platforms, ROS or ROS 2, large-scale training systems, or a background in perception, planning, or control.
