About the role#
This internship involves developing, optimizing, and evaluating cleaning product formulations. You will work with surfactants and specialty ingredients to support customer projects and business growth. You will collaborate with the applied innovation team and the marketing manager to create performance-driven formulations that meet specific market needs.
What you'll do#
- Design and prepare formulations for cleaning applications, including household and industrial products.
- Conduct optimization studies to test cleaning efficacy, foam, stability, and rheology.
- Create innovative prototype formulations to showcase product capabilities.
- Perform application testing and comparative performance evaluations.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and experimental reports.
- Follow all environmental, health, safety, and quality procedures.
- Develop marketing materials such as technical brochures, formulation guides, and data for product launches.
- Generate technical data and performance claims to support marketing campaigns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a Bachelor's degree program for Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Formulation Science, or a related field.
- A minor in business or marketing is preferred.
- Experience with laboratory testing and the safe handling of general lab equipment.
- Ability to analyze technical data and provide practical recommendations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- A general understanding of surfactant functionality and cleaning principles is preferred.

- Location: Richmond, Virginia.
- Type: Part-time, on-site internship.
- Term: Rolling.
- Compensation: $15 - $20 per hour.
- Note: This is a temporary assignment where the selected candidate is employed and paid by a third-party staffing agency.
