About the role#
The CloudOps Intern will work within the IT Platform department to support strategic projects and daily cloud operations. This role involves collaborating with network operations, security, and technical support teams to maintain and optimize cloud-hosted resources. You will gain hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure management while receiving mentorship from the platform and DevOps teams.
What you'll do#
- Assist with day-to-day cloud operations and support activities.
- Support the provisioning and management of cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking services.
- Monitor cloud resource health, performance metrics, and service alerts.
- Assist with user access management and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) administration following security best practices.
- Support backup, patching, maintenance, and operational tasks for cloud-hosted resources.
- Assist in developing and maintaining basic Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates and automation scripts.
- Collaborate on cloud deployments and project-related activities.
- Participate in FinOps activities, including cost monitoring, resource utilization analysis, and cost optimization efforts.
- Prepare cloud usage, cost, and operational reports to support governance and budgeting.
- Create and maintain documentation for cloud environments, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
What you'll need#
- Completed 3 years of a 4-year University program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technology field.
- Basic understanding of major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Basic scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD principles is preferred.
- Knowledge of IaC concepts and tools like Terraform is preferred.
- Azure certifications are considered an asset.
- Must be a current student.
