About the role#
The Environmental Law & Policy Center seeks rising 3L law students for Summer 2027 internships. You will support our state and federal litigation and policy work across the Midwest. This role offers exposure to energy and transportation policy, air and water quality, and the protection of natural areas. We are hiring 3 to 4 interns for this program.
What you'll do#
You will work alongside our attorneys and professional staff on advocacy, policy, and litigation matters. Your daily tasks may include:
- Conducting legal and legislative research.
- Providing litigation and pre-litigation support.
- Assisting in the development of case strategies.
- Drafting legislative documents.
- Supporting clean energy business development and grassroots advocacy.
- Attending meetings with agencies, legislators, and citizens.
- Participating in depositions and other litigation activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in law school.
- A strong academic record.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to public interest and environmental advocacy.
Location & details#
- This internship is based at our headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- This is a paid internship providing $10,000 for 400 hours of work.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for special events.
