About the role#
The Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute is hiring student workers to assist with field research and sample collection. This role focuses on projects related to vector borne disease. You will work up to 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Follow laboratory and field safety procedures and Standards of Practice.
- Assist with trapping and sampling small mammals according to IACUC protocols.
- Perform tick drags to collect, identify, and store samples.
- Document activities using an electronic laboratory information system.
- Enter data into computer programs and assist with GIS mapping.
- Analyze and interpret research data.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a student pursuing a bachelors or graduate degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to hike through various terrains and work in different temperatures.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and deductive reasoning skills.
- Detail-oriented approach and the ability to work independently or in groups.
- Must be at least 18 years old with English literacy skills.

- This position is located in Pennsylvania, United States.
- Work is on-site.
- This is a paid position at $12.00 per hour.
- The schedule includes rolling start dates with occasional evening and weekend work required.
- Employment is contingent on passing a background check, including FBI fingerprinting and PA Child Abuse verification.
