About the role#
The Biology Department at East Stroudsburg University seeks a student worker to assist in the care of animals housed on campus. You will work alongside other students and professors to maintain the health and environment of invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and rodents. This is a paid, part-time position.
What you'll do#
- Learn and follow Standard Operating Procedures for animal care.
- Complete required web-based training modules on animal housing.
- Conduct daily check-ins of animal care facilities.
- Maintain clean facilities that meet USDA guidelines.
- Operate the cage washer as needed.
- Provide clean environments and proper nutrition to ensure animal health.
- Update and maintain accurate animal care records.
- Monitor animal health and provide regular status reports.
- Assist the IACUC veterinarian with treatment protocols for sick or injured animals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a student in the biological sciences department.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- English literacy skills.
- Ability to pass a background check, including FBI fingerprinting, PA Child Abuse clearance, and employment or degree verifications.
