About the role#
The Plant Physiology Lab at East Stroudsburg University is looking for an undergraduate student to assist with daily research and laboratory operations. You will work alongside faculty and graduate students to gain hands-on experience in plant physiology. This position is paid at an hourly rate of $7.25 and requires a commitment of at least 3 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, though some evening or weekend hours may be necessary depending on current lab needs.
What you'll do#
- Manage daily lab tasks, including cleaning equipment, preparing solutions, and tracking inventory.
- Set up, conduct, and document experiments.
- Assist with transgenic plant production and maintenance.
- Care for plants in the laboratory and greenhouse environments.
- Enter and analyze data using lab software.
- Attend lab meetings to discuss research findings and project progress.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a biology or related degree program at ESU.
- At least 18 years of age with English literacy skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn lab-specific software.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift, pull, or push up to 25 pounds and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Prior lab experience or coursework in plant biology or physiology is preferred.
