About the role#
As an intern with our Heavy Highway and Heavy Civil teams, you will gain firsthand construction experience. You will assist in the day-to-day management of project operations, people, and processes. This role involves working alongside laborers in road construction, shadowing project leaders, and participating in meetings with owners, architects, and engineers. You will help manage critical path timelines and assist with surveying and construction planning.
What you'll do#
- Assist Project Managers with technical compliance and field operations.
- Help Field Superintendents document daily and weekly progress reports.
- Assist with quality and quantity reporting.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Help with project scheduling and coordination.
- Manage small crews and document crew time and safety checks.
- Gain experience with estimating and Bid2Win software.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for construction management, civil engineering, or construction engineering.
- Basic knowledge of construction technology, equipment, and industry standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to multitask and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive approach to work.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and Personal Protection Equipment requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physical tasks like bending, kneeling, and stretching.

- Location: Spicer, Minnesota.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time with required travel and occasional Saturday work.
- Environment: Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
