The Data Platform & AI Services research team is seeking a PhD Research Intern to advance AI and data platforms. You will work on extending existing data platforms with scalable tooling designed to help ML researchers navigate, analyze, and extract insights from large-scale multimodal datasets. This role involves contributing to research in visualization for machine learning, data-centric AI, and foundation model interpretability while working with state-of-the-art computing resources.
What you'll do#
- Extend the ML data platform to improve dataset management, discoverability, and quality assessment for multimodal media datasets.
- Build scalable visualization tools to help researchers explore embedding spaces and understand dataset structures.
- Design and implement interactive data exploration interfaces to support ingestion, indexing, retrieval, and annotation workflows.
- Collaborate with AI researchers to translate research needs into platform requirements.
- Present work to internal stakeholders and potentially contribute to academic publications.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Computational Media, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in data management and visualization, including data modeling and indexing.
- Familiarity with ML workflows, including training, evaluation, and debugging processes.
- Solid understanding of deep learning fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with visualization libraries.
- Ability to work independently and within a cross-disciplinary team.
