This internship is part of the video coding standards innovation team. You will focus on developing novel video compression technology by integrating learning-based algorithms with conventional video coding methods to enable next-generation Dolby technologies. This is a full-time, paid position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement innovative neural network and learning-based algorithms for learned transforms in conventional video coding.
- Document and present new algorithms and implementations through technical white papers and other formats.
- Contribute to the development of novel video compression technology.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or a recent graduate within six months of graduation.
- In-depth expertise in deep learning and statistical machine learning.
- Experience with video compression standards such as H.265/HEVC and H.266/VVC.
- Extensive programming experience in Python, C, or C++ applied to image and video coding or processing.
- Proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- A solid research background in image and video processing and coding.
Location & details#
- Location: Sunnyvale, California.
- Modality: On-site, with an expectation of working from the office up to four days per week.
- Term: Full-time for 6 months, from September 21, 2026, to March 2027.
