    About the role#

    The Desert Research Institute is hiring a part-time Media Intern to support Nevada Robotics in Reno. This role involves documenting outreach and research activities to help communicate scientific work to the public. You will work up to 12 hours per week during the 2026-2027 school year.

    What you'll do#

    • Photograph professional development workshops, outreach events, and lab activities.
    • Film and edit short videos for social media, newsletters, and the Nevada Robotics website.
    • Write captions, social media content, and short articles.
    • Organize and maintain a digital media library.
    • Complete special projects and tasks as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Current status as a full-time college student.
    • Classroom or work experience in photography, video creation, and writing.
    • Experience using DSLR or mirrorless cameras.
    • Proficiency with editing programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or Canva.
    • Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite programs.
    • Preference is given to students majoring in journalism or media studies and those with prior media internship experience.

    • Location: Reno, Nevada.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour, depending on experience.
    • This is a part-time position without benefits.
    • Employment is contingent upon a successful background check and requires reliable transportation.
