About the role#

Working under the direction of the Facility Manager or Assistant Facility Manager, this student custodian role involves cleaning facilities, performing grounds work, and assisting with minor maintenance activities in accordance with Denver Public Schools guidelines. This is a paid, part-time summer 2026 position.

What you'll do#

• Clean, dust, sweep, and vacuum facility surfaces and floors.
• Gather, pick up, and empty trash from classrooms, facilities, and grounds.
• Remove graffiti, gum, and other markings from surfaces.
• Assist in routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment and facility systems operate efficiently.
• Prepare facilities for scheduled use.
• Check and verify facility security by locking doors, windows, and gates, and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform limited grounds work, such as snow removal, sweeping walkways, and landscape trimming.
• Assist staff with moving school-related items, distributing supplies, and assembling furniture.
• Communicate and coordinate with school staff, students, and the community.

What you'll need#

• Must be a current Denver Public Schools student.
• Must be between the ages of 14 and 18 (students older than 18 may apply if still enrolled in high school).
• For students aged 14-15, an age certificate completed by the school is required.
• One positive reference from a current teacher or school leader at your school.
• Must live and work in Colorado with a permanent home address.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodations.

Location & details#

• Location: Lake Middle School, Denver, CO.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
• This position is reserved for Campus 28 students only.
