Underwriting Associate, Financial Lines - Fall 2026 Co-op/Intern

About the role#

As an Underwriting Associate within the Financial Lines team, you will support Account Executives with new business and renewal activities. This role provides exposure to specialized insurance products, including Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Errors & Omissions, and Cyber coverages. You will work in a collaborative environment to support business growth and retention goals.

What you'll do#

• Assist Account Executives by gathering and organizing account information for underwriting review and quoting.
• Support the preparation of reports and documentation required to assess and process policies.
• Process transactions within internal systems, including new business submissions, renewals, policy changes, and cancellations.
• Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and update account information in accordance with established standards.
• Monitor team inboxes and workflow queues to assist with task tracking and follow-ups.
• Communicate with internal teams and assist in responding to broker or customer inquiries.
• Participate in team projects and actively learn about underwriting processes and Financial Lines products.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, preferably in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with a team.
• Eagerness to learn and develop knowledge of the insurance industry.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
