This is a 4-month co-op placement for the Fall 2026 term. As an RPC Underwriting Assistant, you will gain real-life experience within the insurance industry, contributing to the Commercial Underwriting team while developing your professional skills in a supportive environment. This is a full-time, paid position with an hourly rate starting at $22.50.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative and operational support throughout the underwriting process, including data entry, report ordering, and maintaining policy information within internal systems.
- Partner with the Commercial Underwriting team to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Support service level commitments by meeting quality, accuracy, and productivity expectations.
- Develop a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, workflows, and internal processes to complete work with confidence.
- Assist with general administrative duties and contribute to ad hoc projects and team initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Strong computer skills, including typing proficiency and comfort navigating multiple systems.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and collaborative approach.
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and a willingness to learn and grow.
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Statistics is considered an asset.
- Progress toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or previous insurance industry experience is an asset.
- Successful clearance of a background check, including criminal checks and leadership references, is required.
