About the role#
Software Engineering Interns at Datadog help build and scale the systems that power our observability and security platform. You will contribute to real-world engineering challenges across backend, frontend, infrastructure, data engineering, and developer tooling. You will work alongside experienced engineers and mentors to design and build systems that process massive volumes of metrics, logs, and application data in real time.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to production systems that process and analyze large-scale observability and application data.
- Build and improve distributed systems across backend infrastructure, developer platforms, and cloud-native services.
- Identify and solve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges in critical services.
- Own and deliver technical projects from design through deployment.
- Collaborate with fellow interns, mentors, and engineers to build software that delivers impact at a global scale.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Targeting a 2028 full-time start date.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Comfort coding in one or more programming languages.
- Experience using AI coding tools or a strong interest in learning how to use them effectively.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Boston, Massachusetts or New York, New York.
- Work modality is hybrid, requiring full-time presence in the office during the internship program.
- Candidates must be available for one of the following program date ranges: May 24 to August 20, May 24 to August 27, or June 7 to September 3, 2027.
