About the role#
The Technical Training Intern supports programs that prepare employees for utility work. You will work with Learning and Development staff, technical experts, and leaders to develop content, coordinate training sessions, and manage records. This role provides exposure to the electric utility industry and the systems that keep operations running.
What you'll do#
- Review apprentice files, training records, and course completion documentation for accuracy.
- Maintain apprenticeship schedules, forms, and resources in SharePoint.
- Assist with apprenticeship onboarding, progress meetings, and field visits.
- Manage training records and attendance in Workday Learning.
- Prepare participant materials, communications, and evaluations.
- Partner with staff to convert field experience into training content and job aids.
- Create and revise learning content using instructional design principles.
- Use learning-development tools to support course delivery.
- Review and recommend internal or third-party learning content.
- Build, update, and test courses within Workday Learning.
- Coordinate logistics for training including registrations, calendars, and meeting setups.
- Answer routine employee questions regarding learning resources and registration.
- Research assigned topics and recommend improvements to training processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college, university, or technical college.
- Pursuing a degree in instructional design, education, adult learning, human resources, organizational development, business, psychology, communications, educational technology, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in helping others learn and succeed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to organize schedules, files, and project tasks.
- Ability to learn new systems and follow documented procedures.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Capability to create clear, professional, and visually consistent materials.
- A customer-service mindset and the ability to handle information with discretion.
- Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and revise work.
- Dependable, curious, and organized work habits.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship based in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- The position is part-time and paid at $18.00 per hour.
- The internship term is rolling.
