About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation to prepare for a Pharmacist role. This position involves working under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to support pharmacy operations, patient safety, and quality assurance.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify prescription details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities like cycle counts and managing medication deliveries.
- Educate patients about vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and deliver health care services such as immunizations.
- Travel to different stores within the market to work shifts as needed.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure.
- Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with active listening.
- Mathematical ability to solve problems related to prescription dispensing.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive movements.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
