About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic learning into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation to deepen your knowledge of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and quality assurance. This role requires you to work as part of a team, follow standard procedures, and provide service that meets patient needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines, obtain informed consent, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution abilities.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
