About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your didactic learning into real-world practice while preparing for a career as a Pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation, deepening your knowledge of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and quality assurance. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to support pharmacy teams and provide care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and contact prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and performing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between duties quickly, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Mathematical skills to solve problems regarding dosage and supply.
- Ability to identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
