About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for a full Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on store, district, and regional operations, patient safety, and quality assurance.
What you'll do#
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences through empathy.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow processes at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and medication stocking.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
- Support immunization processes by educating patients, obtaining informed consent, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and mathematical reasoning abilities.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Problem resolution skills and a customer service orientation.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like typing or reaching.
