About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic training into real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation to prepare for a Pharmacist role. This position involves working under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to deepen your understanding of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and demonstrate empathy in all customer and colleague interactions.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, including educating patients and obtaining informed consent.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws along with company policies.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between responsibilities, and use math to solve problems.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Skill in identifying challenging interactions and choosing the best course of action.
- Ability to complete all required training within designated timeframes.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform tasks requiring close visual acuity and manual dexterity.
