About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic training into real-world pharmacy practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by deepening your knowledge of pharmacy operations, patient safety, and clinical standards.
What you'll do#
- Apply didactic learning to daily pharmacy practice.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while following company SOPs and workflow procedures.
- Assist the pharmacy team to maintain smooth operations.
- Provide patient care by counseling, fielding medical questions, and taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences through empathetic service.
- Mentor and provide in-the-moment coaching to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status and deliver patient health care services, including immunizations, where allowable by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and active listening abilities.
- Mathematical skills for tasks like calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Physical ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, and lift up to 20 lbs.
