About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition from didactic learning to real-world pharmacy operations. This role prepares you for a future as a licensed Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. You will gain experience in store operations, patient safety protocols, error prevention, and quality assurance while contributing to a safe and inclusive pharmacy culture.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment following standard operating procedures.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes with prescribers.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowed by law.
- Educate patients about vaccines and obtain informed consent.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and training to team members to support a high-performing environment.
- Travel to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed to meet business demands.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Valid intern or technician licensure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical reasoning skills for tasks like calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Problem resolution skills to navigate challenging patient or colleague interactions.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
