About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by focusing on pharmacy operations, patient care, and team collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering counsel, fielding medical questions, and providing compassionate service.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify medication needs.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, ensuring all safety and privacy regulations are met.
- Travel to other stores within the market as needed to support business operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
