About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of pharmacy operations while preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will assist the team in ensuring that prescriptions are filled safely and accurately while providing service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Manage pharmacy workflow, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide care to patients by answering questions and offering immunizations or other health services.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and coordinate with prescribers.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as processing deliveries and cycle counts.
- Comply with all laws regarding controlled substances and patient privacy.
- Remain flexible to work shifts across different store locations in the market.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Availability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and switch between duties quickly.
- Strong communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to remain upright for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
