About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a pharmacist. You will gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations while assisting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering empathetic service.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed is preferred.
