About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will gain hands-on experience in store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow a structured training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Offer counseling and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
