About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience with pharmacy operations while helping our team deliver accurate and safe care to patients. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences with empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call them to clarify or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus to handle tasks and pivot quickly.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Customer service orientation with a friendly manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active listening skills.
- Mathematical reasoning ability to solve problems like tablet counts and supply calculations.
- Problem resolution skills for patient or colleague interactions.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
