About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Provide caring service to patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and processing deliveries.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and work toward obtaining Technician Immunizer status.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members as you gain experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and ensure label accuracy.
- Commitment to completing required training within designated timeframes.
