About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing caring service.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and collect medical history under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and putting away deliveries.
- Support immunizations by educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and documenting information, provided you have the required training and licensure.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and travel to other store locations within the market as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- This is a part-time, on-site role.
- The pay range for this role is $20.50 - $24.25 per hour.
