About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap designed to build your skills in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and gain hands-on experience with pharmacy operations.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow at each workstation.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Capability to identify and resolve challenging interactions with patients or colleagues.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, and lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Close visual acuity for tasks such as reading, transcribing, and inspecting small parts.
